Beverly Hills Breast Augmentation- Augmentation Mammoplasty

What is breast augmentation?
Today almost every woman has heard of breast augmentation or has even known someone who has had the surgery. Dr. Hovsepain performs breast augmentation surgeries in Newport Beach and Beverly Hills. Women of all ages are having breast augmentation done for a multitude of reasons. Selecting the right surgeon is the most important part of having surgery. Breast augmentation, technically known as augmentation mammoplasty, is a surgical procedure to enhance the size and shape of a woman’s breast for a number of reasons:

• To enhance the body contour of a woman who, for personal reasons, feels her breast size is too small
• To restore breast volume lost due to weight loss or following pregnancy
• To achieve better symmetry when breasts are moderately disproportionate in size and shape
• To improve the shape of breasts that are sagging or have lost firmness, often used with a breast lift procedure
• To provide the foundation of a breast contour when a breast has been removed or disfigured by surgery to treat breast cancer
• To improve breast appearance or create the appearance of a breast that is missing or disfigured due to trauma, heredity, or congenital abnormalities

By inserting an implant behind each breast, Dr. Hovsepian is able to increase a woman’s bust line by one or more bra cup sizes.

Are you a candidate for breast augmentation?
Breast augmentation can enhance your appearance and your self-confidence. The best candidates for breast augmentation are women who are looking for improvement, not perfection, in the way they look. If you’re physically healthy and realistic in your expectations, you may be a good candidate. Before you decide to have surgery, think carefully about your expectations and discuss them with Dr. Hovsepian. At your consultation Dr. Hovsepian will evaluate if you are a good candidate for breast augmentation surgery. You and Dr. Hovsepian will have a thorough discussion about your desired outcome, along with your past and present health condition. After this appointment you will leave knowing if you are a candidate for breast lift surgery, a clear understanding of how breast augmentation is performed, the recovery, and much more.

How is a breast augmentation performed?
The method of inserting and positioning your breast implant will depend on your anatomy and preferences, and Dr. Hovsepian’s recommendation. The incision can be made either in the crease beneath the breast, around the areola (the dark skin surrounding the nipple). The choice of incision is based on your own preference in combination with the recommendation given by Dr. Hovsepian, according to your individual anatomy and the type of breast implant used. Breast augmentation surgery is done under general anesthesia at an accredited surgery center; you will be completely asleep during this procedure. During surgery Dr. Hovsepian will lift your breast tissue and skin to create a pocket, either directly behind the breast tissue (sub-mammary or sub-glandular placement) or may be placed beneath the pectoral muscle and on top of the chest wall (sub-muscular placement). Once the implant is positioned within this pocket, the incisions are closed with sutures, skin adhesive and/or surgical tape. A gauze bandage will be applied over your breasts to help with healing. The surgery usually takes one to two hours to complete.

The results
For many women, the result of breast augmentation can be satisfying, even exhilarating, as they learn to appreciate their fuller appearance. Your decision to have breast augmentation is a highly personal one that not everyone will understand. The important thing is how you feel about it. If you’ve met your own personal goals, then your surgery is a success. Dr. Hovsepian uses dissolving stitches to close the incisions, which will also be taped for greater support. A surgical bra is recommended, and will be provided for you after the surgery. Your scars will be firm and pink for at least six weeks. After several months, your scars will begin to fade. You’re likely to feel tired and sore for a few days following your surgery, but you’ll be up and around in 24 to 48 hours. You should be able to return to work within a few days, depending on the level of activity required for your job.

What are the risks of breast augmentation?
As with any surgical procedure, mild swelling and discomfort may follow the surgery. Some women have reported alteration in nipple or skin sensation. These symptoms usually disappear within time, but may be permanent in some patients. With any surgery there are incisions, when undergoing breast augmentation however, Dr. Hovsepian is very meticulous about his incision placement and closure technique to give each patient as minimal of a scar as possible. Every person’s ability to heal varies on genetics and physical characteristics. If you’re worried about scarring Dr. Hovsepian will speak with you about many scar-minimizing techniques that can be used after your surgery.

What is the recovery process for breast augmentation?
The recovery process will vary from person to person. After surgery you will return home the same day of surgery. Still, there are some basic precautions and instructions that you can take to help this recovery go as smoothly as possible, including:

• Arrange for someone to help you get around the house and help you with your medication for at least the first 24 hours after your breast augmentation. You may need medication for the pain and to control nausea caused by the pain medication.
• Avoid heavy lifting, contact sports and jogging for up to six weeks.
• Call your Dr. Hovsepian immediately if you notice an increase in swelling, pain, redness, drainage, bleeding in the surgical area or if you develop fever, dizziness, nausea or vomiting. Other red flags include shortness of breath, chest pains and unusual heartbeat.
• Wearing a sports bra for 4-6 weeks may be required.

Mommy Makeover Los Angeles

What is a mommy makeover?
Women who are lucky enough to be mothers know that pregnancy is a wonderfully rewarding experience! Unfortunately a woman’s body sometimes takes a lot of effort and hard work to return to its pre-pregnancy shape and size.  Sometimes even with plenty of hard work and exercise, it is still difficult for some women to achieve their desired figure after pregnancy.  As a result, many women are considering a mommy makeover to help them look and feel great all over again. A mommy makeover is a combination of body contouring procedures that are performed in one stage. Each mommy makeover is individualized to each patient’s needs and can include: breast augmentation, tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), liposuction, and vaginal reconstruction. Dr. Hovsepian’s goal is to help women counteract the physical side effects of child bearing, while enhancing and restoring your figure.

Are you a candidate for a mommy makeover?
During pregnancy a woman’s body goes through a tremendous amount of changes, before deciding on having the mommy makeover procedure, we strongly recommend that you do it after you have fulfilled the number children you would like having and have finished breast feeding your last child.  Being able to maintain a stable weight also maximizes the benefit of your mommy makeover. Finally, just like with any surgery, you should be of good health. At your consultation Dr. Hovsepian will evaluate if you are a good candidate for a mommy makeover and proceed from there.

How is a mommy makeover performed?
Dr. Hovsepian will help you choose the combination of procedures that will give you the body you desire. You may choose to have a breast lift with or without augmentation, in order to lift your breasts and restore or create a voluptuous shape combined with a procedure to whittle your waist, such as a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) with or without liposuction. The breast surgery addresses sagging and loss of volume while the tummy tuck removes loose or sagging skin on the abdominal wall.  The overall goal of a mommy makeover is to create lifted, full breasts and a tight abdomen. All of these procedures would be performed on an outpatient basis and typically under general anesthesia.

What are the risks of mommy makeover surgery?
Complications can occur with any surgery. An experienced surgeon will keep these to a minimum and will handle them conscientiously and with sound judgment. As you look to choose a plastic surgeon, be mindful that Dr. Hovsepian will remain just as engaged, concerned and caring about your results after the surgery has been completed, as he was prior and during the surgical procedure. Dr. Hovsepian is not only a perfectionist when it comes to his surgical technique, but also with his commitment to his patients’ satisfaction, which extends way beyond the day of surgery.

What is the recovery process for mommy makeover surgery?
Your recovery process will vary based on what your mommy makeover entails. However, there are some basic precautions and instructions that can be taken to help the recovery go as smoothly as possible. These include:
•    Arranging for someone to help you get around the house and help you with your medication for at least the first 24 hours after your mommy makeover. You may need medication for the pain and to control nausea caused by the pain medication.
•    Avoid heavy lifting, contact sports and jogging for up to six weeks.
•    Wearing a sports bra and abdominal garment for 4-6 weeks may be required.

Under-Eye Fat Transfer

Under-Eye Fat Transfer

under eye fat in newport beachWhat is under-eye fat transfer?
A major factor driving the increase in cosmetic surgery has been the natural desire to look younger. Dr. Hovsepian performs anti-aging procedures such as under-eye fat transfer, is a method where fat is transferred under the eyes creating a younger-looking face that can last for years. This procedure is becoming a very common approach to achieving a more youthful appearance and a way to naturally rejuvenate the lower eyelid and cheek area. The fact that this procedure uses the patient’s own body fat in a very natural way, makes it a very appealing option for people considering to get work done on their under-eye area.

How is under-eye fat transfer performed?
Under-eye fat transfer
with Dr. Hovsepian typically takes an hour to complete the procedure. It involves liposuction from the abdominal area or thighs (depending on the patient). The collected fat is then injected below the lower eyelid, which creates volume in an area that generally begins to lose its volume and shape by the time people are in their 30s. The recovery period takes approximately 1-2 weeks.

What are the costs of under-eye fat transfer?
The cost of the procedure is generally a few times more expensive than typical hyaluronic acid facial filler injections (Juvederm, Restylane, Perlane), however, the under-eye fat transfer procedure lasts for years while the typical commercial facial filler injections need to be repeated about once a year.

What are the benefits of under-eye fat transfer?
In addition to lasting longer than commercially made facial fillers, Dr. Hovsepian believes that under-eye fat-transfer surgery is more “natural” in both method and appearance. Fat transfer is an excellent, permanent option for patients who want a natural, rejuvenated look in the under-eye area.

Gynecomastia Surgery in Beverly Hills

Beverly Hills Gynecomastia Surgery, Male Breast Reduction

newport beach gynecomastia

Gynecomastia, also known as male breast reduction, is a condition in which firm breast tissue develops in males and may become present in one or both sides of the breast. Gynecomastia can range from men who never lost the small amount of puffiness they had on their chest during puberty to men that have excessive breast tissue.

What causes gynecomastia?
Gynecomastia is usually caused by changes in hormones during: birth, puberty, or in adulthood. The imbalance of estrogen and testosterone in the body can cause gynecomastia. In adults; aging, alcohol, drugs, medications, and diseases can affect hormones. Many men are also unaware of the fact that gynecomastia can also be and adverse effect of steroids taken for body building purposes, where many cases of rapid growth of breast tissue have been seen.

How to correct gynecomastia?
There are two common methods for treating gynecomastia, excision and liposuction. Gynecomastia surgeries can be done with local anesthesia in conjunction with a mild sedative, IV sedation or general anesthesia. Depending on how much glandular tissue is present, Dr. Hovsepian will decide on which procedure would best fit your needs.  For example, liposuction is an ideal procedure to remove fat, when the fat is soft and spread throughout the breast. For liposuction there is usually a small incision in the armpit or on the areola. These incisions are very inconspicuous. On the other hand, in cases where there is a large amount of firm glandular tissue, an excision in combination with liposuction may be used. If an excision is required, the incision will be placed around the lower half of your areola, for concealment.

What is the recovery process for gynecomastia surgery?
Gynecomastia recovery is fairly quick with mild discomfort if any. Patients describe their discomfort similar to that of having a difficult workout.  It is recommended that after your surgery you keep physical activities to a minimum for the first few weeks. After surgery, a compression garment or tight fitting T-shirt is used to keep the chest compressed to reduce swelling and to achieve optimal results.

Areola Reduction In Beverly Hills

Beverly Hills Areola Reduction Surgery

Areola reduction surgery

areola reduction newport beachMany women today who are thinking about undergoing breast surgery (breast augmentation) are also asking about their areola size, curious if their areola is to large. Is there an exact size that the areola should be? The answer is no, each woman has a unique body and breast. There is no exact size that the areola should be because all breasts are different in size and shape. Some women have large or puffy areola, this can occur because of genetics, weight loss, breast implants, or breast-feeding. Also with age the areola may expand and stretch. The goal of the surgery no matter the technique is to reduce the diameter of the areola, and sometimes to lift the areola to a higher position. This procedure can enhance the overall aesthetics of the breast.

What to expect during your surgery

Areola reduction surgery can be performed with local anesthetic, light sedation, and even general anesthesia. This decision will be made based on the complexity of the surgery. The incision will be made around the circumference of the areola. The surgery will be performed in an operating room and can take 1-2 hours. This surgery is done on an out patient basis and you will be able to return home after your procedure, you will need a driver.

Areola reduction surgery recovery

Recovery time varies from patient to patient and depends on the extent of the surgery. Most patients can return to work and resume light activity within a few days. It is important to follow all of you post-operative instructions carefully and to keep all of your post-operative follow up appointments.

Cellulite Reduction In Beverly Hills

Beverly Hills – Reduce Cellulite Through Endermologie

cellulite reduction newport beachWhat really helps cellulite?

For years millions of women are searching daily for cellulite treatments to reduce their cellulite and get rid of the “orange peel” look occurring on their legs and buttocks. Approximately 90% of women over 20 years old have cellulite. Are you one of these women? If so LPG Endermologie is a cellulite reduction treatment that helps many patients tremendously reduce the appearance of cellulite. In addition to a healthy diet and regular exercise I have had many patients add an excellent cellulite treatment to their regimen called Endermologie. Patients are experiencing satisfying results with this technology.

What is Endermologie?

Endermologie is the only FDA approved, non-invasive technology cellulite treatment.  The LPG Endermologie Therapeutic Massager uses rollers and gently suctioning to deeply massage affected areas, increasing circulation, expelling toxins and excess water while reducing cellulite.  In addition, the Cellu M6 also yields excellent body sculpting and wonderfully, smooth tight skin. Endermologie promotes circulation and restoration of collagen function. This allows toxins and abnormal water buildup to be expelled as the connective fibers are stretched. The result is a smoother, more contoured body. This is not the same “abnormal water build up” that many women experience with PMS or the kind that can be flushed out of the system using a water pill — it is “abnormal” because it is trapped in the connective fibers and continues to build unless released by Endermologie.

How Does Endermologie Work?

Each Endermologie treatment is 35 minutes.  Patients will be scheduled to visit our office twice a week. You will love the relaxing yet stimulating sensation of a deep tissue massage with Endermologie.  As you relax, the treatment chamber caresses your skin while stimulating circulation.  Feel your tension subside as the rollers lift, stretch and mobilize the tissue and skin.  Leave your session feeling calm and refreshed and revel in the astonishing results of the new you. In combination with gentle suctioning, two electronically controlled, motorized rollers and airtight treatment chamber, apply a three-dimensional rolling action to the body.  Depending on the cellulite and location, a pre-set program is selected and specific maneuvers by the technician can gently treat the connective tissues where the cellulite is located.  Circulation is increased, collagen function is restored, toxins and abnormal water build-up are expelled as connective fibers are stretched.  The result is cellulite reduction and a smoother body.

For a free consultation and for more information about cellulite reduction please contact us at (949) 295-9222.
